De Verraders, also known as The Traitors, is a social deduction reality game.
In the first episode, a minority of players are selected to play the Traitors; their role is to secretly eliminate the Faithful players over the course of the game. At the end of each day, contestants vote to banish a suspected Traitor in a roundtable discussion, with the Traitors secretly convening to murder (or recruit) a Faithful later that night.
The prize fund is split evenly among the Faithful if and only if there are no Traitors in their midst at the end of the game. If any Traitors do remain, they will either split the prize fund between themselves or steal it in a prisoner's dilemma.

The original Dutch version of De Verraders premiered in 2021 with a celebrity cast, its success paving the way for multiple renewals, Halloween spin-offs, and international licensing deals. The Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman in the UK and Alan Cumming in the US, met critical acclaim in the English-speaking world.
De Verraders has been exported to multiple other countries, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Portugal and Spain. Each international version has its own quirks, and the format is regularly updated with new twists and gameplay mechanics.
